Build Your Own Girlfriend

Saturday, 26th December, 2009

This inventor built his very own girlfriend at a cost of $48k. He still has to get her to walk and he’s working on her software, but aside from that he says she’s perfect.

Aiko --fembot

$48,000 Girlfriend

Inventor Le Trung spent Christmas Day with the most important woman in his life – his robot Aiko.

The science genius enjoyed a festive dinner with his mum, dad and his £30,000 fembot which he designed and built by hand.

Le, 34, from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, even bought gifts for his dream girl, who is so lifelike she speaks fluent English and Japanese, helped cook the turkey and hang up decorations.

‘Aiko is like any woman, she enjoys getting new clothes,’ he said.

‘I loved buying them for her too.’

HP computers are racist……Hilarious

It seems that HP webcams have a spot of trouble if the face doesn’t reflect enough light.

“HP has been informed of a potential issue with the facial-tracking software included on some of its systems, which appears to occur when insufficient foreground lighting is available,” an HP spokesman told BBC News.

“We take this seriously and are looking into it with our partners.”

This whole issue came about because HP uses the cheapest and therefore the lowest contrast cameras they can find.

I bet they find a way to squirm out of this “potential issue” rather than have a recall and replace thousands of cameras.

The Silverdome is Worth Less than a NYC Loft.

Thursday, 17th December, 2009

In 1975 the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan cost $55.7 million to build. Since then they’ve used it for Super Bowl XVI, the World Cup and a concert by Michael Jackson.

At 80,000 seats it was the NFL’s biggest stadium back in ‘75, but now the Detroit Lions have moved to newer quarters in Ford Field, so it sits gathering dust.

Because of upkeep cost of $1.5 million a year the city was forced to sell the property at auction. The winner is a Canadian real estate company that paid a whopping $583k for the albatross. –That’s right. It went for less than 1% of what it cost to build.

In spite of the low price, given the economics of the region, and the number of buildings rusting away, I think they should have held out until the city paid them to take it.

Dartmouth, Mass. –100-year-old Elizabeth Barrow was found dead with a plastic bag tied around her head. Police originally thought she had committed suicide, but later discovered that she had been suffocated by her 98-year-old nursing home roommate.

It seems that the roommate, Laura Lundquist had complained to nursing home administrators about the number of visitors Ms. Barrow received. When nothing was done she took matters into her own hands. Now the police want to charge Ms. Lundquist with murder.

A Superior Court judge ordered Ms Lundquist to be sent to Taunton State Hospital for an evaluation.

Her defense lawyer, Carl Levin, said she had a “long-standing diagnosis of dementia as well as issues of cognitive impairment”.

The case is unlikely to ever go to trial because of the possible incompetency finding and because the defense will likely involve mental health issues, which take a long time to prosecute.
