Contact Lens Jewelry

A Dutch designer by the name of Eric Klarenbeek has developed a contact lens with crystals that hang down on to the cheek of the wearer. The crystals are attached by medical wire and make the model look as though she is crying. –After wearing a pair of those for a few hours I doubt that she will merely look like she’s crying.
From Eric Klarenbeek’s website:
‘My work is characterized by interaction and innovation. My products can be in motion, react on our presence or respond on developments in our society. I search for new meaning and principles in objects, for unexplored connections between materials, production methods, makers and users. Scale and appliance are irrelevant. I’ve designed jewellery, but also developed concepts to connect tourists to local craftsmen’.
I’ve always known that artists were strange, but every so often someone comes along and reminds me what fine line there is between between strange and weird.
