And thus I clothe my naked villainy, With old odd ends, stol'n forth of holy writ; And seem a saint, when most I play the devil.

Sudan demo over jailed UK teacher

November 30th, 2007 by admin

BBC NEWS | Africa | Sudan demo over jailed UK teacher
According to some agencies, some of the protesters chanted: “Shame, shame on the UK”, “No tolerance - execution” and “Kill her, kill her by firing squad”.
Keep in mind that anything that starts “According to some agencies” is by definition questionable.

Gillian Gibbons, 54, from Liverpool, was jailed for 15 days on Thursday after allowing children in her class to name a teddy bear Muhammad.

Muhammad is one of the most common names in the Muslim world. Yet, because of this simple cultural misunderstanding, there are protesters in the streets, demanding if not death, at least a much harsher sentence for this person.

Also from the BBC:
The Arabic name Muhammad is now the second most popular name for baby boys in Britain, adding together its 14 different spellings in English.

The problem as I see it is the radical interpretation of the Quran put forth by many Imams, and the number of people who follow blindly.

In the Quran I have found no equivalent of the golden rule. Instead I find this:
Let not the believers take the disbelievers as Auliya (supporters, helpers, etc.) instead of the believers, and whoever does that will never be helped by Allah in any way, except if you indeed fear a danger from them. And Allah warns you against Himself (His Punishment) and to Allah is the final return. S. 3:2.
Although I noticed an about face when the Muslims had to seek protection in Abyssinia:
“The meaning is not that they merely call themselves Christians, but that they are such sincere Christians that they appreciate Muslim virtues, as did the Abyssinians to whom Muslim refugees went during the persecution in Mecca. They would say: ‘It is true we are Christians, but we understand your point of view, and we know that you are good men.’ They are Muslims at heart, whatever their label may be.” S 5:82:
—–Strange how the Jihadists seem to overlook this part.

This I believe is the reason for much of the violence in the Muslim world.

Other religions are equally intolerant, but few put forth such a consistent call for such violence.

Before the accusations start; I am not a Zionist. I believe Israel’s right to exist is not based on some divine edict, but by force of arms, the same as that of any other country.

Religion has caused more grief over the centuries than any other cause. All in the name of somebody’s god.

So much for peace love and brotherhood.

New Site

November 26th, 2007 by admin

This is a site that I discovered while looking at a friend’s blog.
For the moment the name of the blog is Hostility.

Remember to read the posts from the bottom up, oldest to newest.

The author is a systems administrator who is the primary help desk and tech support for a small financial institution.
I am told that his verbal skills are far better than his literary skills…. I would certainly hope so.

I find that his blog is of the sort best read with friends and your favorite libation.
What makes it better than any sitcom currently running, is the fact that it is not intended to be funny.
