Castro

July 26th, 2007 by admin

I remember seeing the celebrations in places like Miami over a year ago, when they thought Fidel Castro was going to die.
Power was handed over to Fidel’s brother Raul as a temporary measure.
Now, Raul is still in charge, Fidel is presumed to be alive, and if he dies at this point, it won’t make a single iota of difference.

The transition has been made, there was no chaos, no uprising… nothing changed.

Raul says he would like to have talks with the US, but only after the Presidential elections.
“If the United States authority were to finally desist from their arrogance and decide to converse in a civilized manner, it would be a welcome change,” he said.
“Otherwise, we are ready to continue confronting their policy of hostility, even for another 50 years if needs be.”

The Bush administration uses their free elections rhetoric as an excuse not to talk to any representative of the Cuban government.

I doubt that Cuba is going to change in the next few years, there is undoubtedly a replacement being groomed for Raul Castro.
And I doubt that the rhetoric coming out of Washington is going to change when we are finally rid of King George and his cronies.

The endless drone of, “our way or no way,” continues from all sides.

Is it just me… or do governments, on the whole, tend to act like five year old brats.
